Maybe the bill knows that the only way to keep going is to rise
Past the flame in as many pieces as there are memories
Let's just be honest...I can't read three lines in the books I was thinking I'd finally finish, lately. I keep my phone charged and read article after article...but no books. I watch movies and find myself saddened by all the ways people, once upon a time, could trust being together. Going to eat. Finishing a semester. Going to a mall. We haven't left the house in days and with the contradictory, shifting information and I feel like I'm sailing past the wreckage of the year, waiting for one of the flaming chunks to finally set our boat on fire. And so...I'm taking this blog on hiatus.
Thank you for your comments over the past years and I wish each and every one of you continued health and inspiration.
-- Chrissa
Hang in there, girl.
ReplyDeleteI hope you change your mind and come back pronto. The entertainment you provide is a soul salvation for many.
ReplyDeleteI feel your words here Chrissa. It has been some crazy times, and it is taking a toll on us all. Always remember you can reach out and give me a call if you want to talk my friend. Thank you so much for always being here and giving us inspiring poetry to read!!
ReplyDeleteI feel for you - times are scary. I settled many in my family down with a simple message: by the age of 12 my dad had lived through a world war and Spanish Flu. He came out whole and lived a long, rewarding life. Take care and I will see you again.
ReplyDeleteChrissa, we need you, Sussie, Carrie, you (I just found out from Rosemary) have to keep the Metro Houston area represented. I think there is another. I can't remember.
ReplyDeleteI have several books part way read also. I keep one generally checked out. One, the Mark Twain letters, title is in my profile, I've been working on since the 80's and kept the Szn Jac library until I retired. Then on Ebay I bought my own copy for 50 cents.
I have Houston younger days nostalgia in my March 18 Weekly Scribbles, all before 1974.

O, dear Chrissa, I empathize, and I will miss you. Your writing today is profound.
ReplyDeleteIt's a hideous time. And nobody says you or anyone else has to be super productive or industrious right now. I understand needing to pull back from anything that feels "extra". Be safe and be well during the break. I will miss your writing. I had always looked forward to seeing your name pop up on the link list, knowing there would be something wonderful to read when I got there.
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace and health! I totally understand we are living in challenging times.
ReplyDeleteDo what you much, dear Chrissa. But remember that we are here, always willing to have a virtual meal with you, to go on a virtual stroll with you, to talk about the books we don't seem to be able to finish (mine is Seveneves... We are here, if you need us.
ReplyDeleteYou describe how I too felt these last weeks, shattered, not really taking in anything other than the latest updates.
ReplyDeleteWishing you peace, good healthy and inspiration!
Ah, nice!
ReplyDeleteI feel you Chrissa. Same here. Read my poem to see how I am doing since my husband died. Hang in there. You have your online readers if your wonderful poems and friends. Have hope dear.
ReplyDeleteChrissa, we need you and will miss you. Come back soon.
ReplyDeleteChrissa, I echo everyone else ... please do not disappear. And stay well.
ReplyDeleteDo what you feel is right, Chrissa, but I hope you return soon. I love your work. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteI feel you too. Some days are harder than others. I've learned to disconnect when it gets too overwhelming. I can't be plugged in all the time and it seems that's one of the few options left. I've turned to music. Playing games of solitaire. Watching comedies. And when the feeling returns, we'll be here.
